Post 6 : English Language Challenges

Image
I want to be completely honest, it wasn´t what I expected, I thought this course would connect the language with the career, I wanted to learn vocabulary that´d help me with my courses, for example; in our first semester of class we had a botany course, and I studied from English websites and books, seeing that I found more texts in this language than Spanish, but there was a lot of words I didn’t know, even in Spanish. So I needed to improve my vocabulary, not knowing this words frustrated me a little bit The hardest part for me in this subject, and languag e, its talk, I feel unable to speak in front of others, except of native speakers or when I’m alone. I have to work in my social skills because I’m very shy, it makes me feel uncomfortable when I speak in front of a screen or a class. I use it every day, I speak and text in English with my best friend. Something that I really liked about this class is the blogs, mostly the part of write and receive nice comments from my c...

Post 5 : Videogames

Image
Hi everybody!! Well, I’m actually not so into videogames, It´s not about if I like it or not, I’ll probably like a game if I try it, but those type of activities usually demands a lot of time, you could spend the whole day playing it and don’t realize it, and I get addict to this things easily, so i try to not get close to them. Even when I was a kid I didn’t play videogames very often, I preferred to play outside. But I used to play mortal kombat with my best friend, I enjoyed it a lot because in that time I used to practice martial arts; the game is about it. I remember coming back from my karate’s classes and play it the whole night with my friend, we used to have a lot of fun, we recreated every game we had, and I think it was way funnier to kick ourselves in the real life than in the screen. I think I´ve played one or two games in my brother's PlayStation, probably about fights, but that’s all. I’m quite sure there’s a lot of genres, as any other topic does. Have a good ...

Post 4 : Permaculture

Image
Before I watched the video, I didn´t know much about Permaculture, I saw some posts about it, comparations explaining the difference between permaculture´s and agriculture´s practices. I understood agriculture as a system that affects the environment, soil, communities, and the biodiversity around, since it uses pesticides and fertilizers. Instead, permaculture is a type of cultivation that respects the nature where it is being applied, seeing that it does not provide toxics to help the development of the crop. The food forest could be a great cropping system for people who lives in the woods or has the enough space to do it, I don’t think this can be used properly in Santiago, for example. There are not so many places to implement it here. This would be a better option than planting trees and plants that don’t provide food, if that’s the purpose of the person who is working on it. Also, it seems more productive, as it uses completely the area. I don’t know if this is a great...

Post 3: Covid 19

Image
Hi guys, I hope you are all safe!! I haven´t left my house since a long time ago, except for health issues, but my parents still go to work, so I don´t feel so disconnected from the outside. For me the hardest part has been distancing from my family and friends, I haven´t seen them since February, I went to USA and when I came back, I had to isolate for two weeks, and Santiago was just going into quarantine. At the beginning I was not worried about the virus, in Florida, the place I was, they didn’t care about it; nobody was wearing a mask, washing their hands, or keeping distance. The local media didn’t even share news about it, but there was a moment when everything explode… Everybody was trying to get hand sanitizers and cleaning stuff; I freaked out because I felt so expose. On my way back I was worried I´ll test positive, there was a lot of protocols in the airport, workers taking your temperature and I had a fever; I was scared they´ll take me somewhere else, when i just had...

Post 2 : The best concert I've ever been to

Image
The best concert I've had the pleasure to attend was Radiohead’s, I listened to them since I was a kid, they’re an alternative British band, which was way popular in the 90's; nowadays not as famous as before. I never thought i'd have the chance to see them live. They came in April 2018, to be precise, to a festival named SUE (Electronic Urban Santiago) as headliners at the “Estadio Nacional”. I went with my best friend, we skipped school for two or three days, so we could line up for the concert and be closer to the stage. The day before we went to the hotel, to meet the band and see if we could get a sign, sadly we just greeted them. Th is concert meant a lot to me, I was with someone that I love, listening to the songs we dedicated to each other while we hugged. It rained a bit, some people were crying, it was melancholic; they mostly played sad songs. Anyway, it was perfect!!. !.

Post 1: A country I´d like to visit.

Image
One of the places I’m more interested to visit is Russia, I’m attracted to its colourful churches, and political history. Our countries don´t have noteworthy connections, they´re far away from each other, so the cultures are contrasting, we have different alphabet, religion, weather; they have temperatures lower than -20°C. At school we don´t learn much about this country so I´ll like to go and learn it by myself. I know Russia is the biggest country in the world, therefore, most of it hasn´t been explored, so there´s an endless amount of nature in its purest state. If I go, I’ll like to watch a classical music concert, or a show by the Russian ballet, specifically the "Swan Lake", since every time they schedule a show here it´s sold out. Also, I´ll like to drink Russian vodka. I´m highly interested to study there, in Moscow State University, to be precise, it´s well ranked, and their education is way accessible than others, and it´s a great opportunity to learn another langu...
